Description
These bundled USA-themed products are the ideal extensions to your United States geography unit! Students are engaged as they research the regions of the USA, as well as each individual state, and create the Fact Fan project. Fact Fans are ideal for practicing note-taking, introducing research, for center work, fast finishers, and independent projects.
The Fact Fan process is simple!
- Students record their notes on the provided Note-taking Sheet.
- They color the fans, record their information, cut out the fan, and hole-punch the bottom.
- A metal brad through the circles completes the project.
- Also included are a Cover Page and Resources Page for students to practice citing their sources.
- For the Regions of the USA Fans, assessment is provided in the form of a quiz. Students must identify the region based on the outline. Two versions are provided to help with differentiation! One quiz has states labeled, and the other does not.
- A list of recommended resources is provided to help guide teachers. Students use the resources to research and note-take on the provided sheets.
- A complete answer key is provided so the information can be checked for accuracy before being published onto the fans.
Regions of the USA
Students will study the 5 Regions of the United States and publish their writing on the interactive Fact Fans! They research the states, climate, and geographical features of the five regions of the United States: the West, Southwest, Midwest, South, and Northeast.
State Reports
Students enjoy this fun twist to the classic state report! They will use the provided note-taking sheets to research one of the fifty states.
Students will note and label:
- state capital
- major mountains and/or mountain ranges
- major lakes and river
- most populous city
Students will write:
- state population
- year of statehood
- climate
- bordering states
- state abbreviation
- 3 interesting facts
- state bird
